About Bayhouse

A Hermitage Of The Heart

I moved to Bay House in the early 1990’s following a serious illness. When I retrained as a counsellor and began my counselling practice it seemed to me most appropriate to name my practice after Bay House.
Bay House nestles on a quiet corner of Donegal Bay about 2 miles from Donegal town, facing South West into the sea and sun. To the rear is a woodland skirting a mature garden. A place both private and peaceful.
From what I can gather it was built by a merchant sea captain sometime during 1880’s and has undergone a series of transformations since that time. To the rear of the house at the end of the garden is the remains of a Famine Graveyard.
A quiet and gentle atmosphere permeates the rooms in Bay House. Many clients have remarked on this. The feeling of being held, feeling of something beyond counselling occurring in a place of peace and safety.
Bay House provides a place where it is safe to speak… and to say the unsaid. To be listened too…
Bay House Counseling is a place where the unutterable can be gently unmasked and inner fears can be tamed.
I believe the energy surrounding, pervading, and holding Bay House has had an affirmative influence on my counselling practice. It is this phenomenon I wish to carry forward also into my Online Counselling Service.
